1. UNDER CONSTRUCTION! The pool area under the tent is now officially an official construction zone, so unless you are officially involved with construction: Keep Out! Employees and members of the public are not allowed in this area. Please stay within the hoarding tunnel at all times, and advise others to do the same. Entry in and out of a construction zone is a controlled process. Note: There are some designated employees who are allowed in the area, but they are required to complete and comply with Dominion Construction's Safety orientation and must wear personal protection equipment such as hard hats, steel-toed boots and gloves.
2. TARPS UNDER THE TENT. By the time this eNewsletter went to ePress, the hoarding was over 90% complete. Now that the safety tarp is secured to separate the aquatic from the dryland sides of the tent, crews will begin taking out the insulation on the aquatic side of the roof starting at the North end and working South. You will notice ribbons attached to the roof arch to monitor negative & positive air flow in the building. These ribbons may look decorative, and their gentle flutter may be beautiful, but they are serving an important purpose. (Also, the operations staff have added some additional lighting to the arch.)
3. Parking UPDATE:
- The construction laydown area in the parking lot is taking up as much space as it will need before the end of February. (The laydown area may shrink and grow periodically as deliveries are made.)
- This means there are still approximately 400 stalls onsite. This is 200+ more stalls than anticipated. Talisman Centre employees, construction crew, Lifemark Health and Cardiac Wellness can continue to park free of charge onsite for January and February! Starting in March, parking availability onsite will be assessed on a month-by-month basis.
- Employees are required to park along the far East side near Macleod Trail (on your immediate left upon entering into the parking lot). Please leave the parking closest to the building and near the Lifemark entrance for customer use only. Yes - employees must walk across the parking lot. Think of the exercise!
- The parking lot will be manned (or womaned) from 5:00am to 8:00pm, 7 days a week starting March 1, 2010.
• If needed, there is access to 70 stalls offsite and a development permit is being submitted for 100 additional parking spaces off Macleod Trail. More details will follow as time progresses.
4. LOCKER ROOMS. Good News: While the public locker rooms remain open, the employee locker rooms will also remain accessible. Bad News: When the public locker rooms close for renovation, designated employee locker rooms will not be available.
5. FOUNDATION LOUNGE. At the end of January, the Foundation Lounge will be closed to the public to begin the transition into temporary dry locker rooms for the Aquatic Complex. So get all your Foundation Lounging in as soon as possible.
